Beta Grove crashed on the fifth world of the Tau Ceti system after thirty years of traveling through space, and the creatures on board thrived and evolved further. During the events of the Citadel Station incident, the Hacker jettisoned Beta Grove, one of the four wildlife groves aboard Citadel Station, which SHODAN had been using for experiments with bio-engineered viruses.Īs the grove hurtled through space, the mutagenic virus and the mutated creatures stored aboard Beta Grove evolved at an accelerated rate, eventually coming to an apex as a species of parasitic annelids with distinct personality, telepathic mind control, and genetic modification abilities. There is one Environmental Regulator in this area.The Many is an indirect creation of the malevolent artificial intelligence SHODAN. Sector D contains the coolant tanks of the ship and the turbine control room.There is one Environmental Regulator in this area. Sector A contains a small storage area, four cultivation cells which houses plants that are used to generate the ship's oxygen, and an observation lounge located at the bow of the ship which gives a view into space.There are two Environmental Regulators in this area for each sector. Sectors B and C contains access to the ship's central elevator, the Biological Survey labs, cold storage, the chemical store room, and what appear to be fresh water reserves.This deck is divided into four different sectors each with their own Environmental Regulator that allows the environment to be regulated and changed if needed to accommodating any organic beings whether plant, animal, or alien. Once the toxin is researched, the Soldier can use the toxin by inserting them into the Environmental Regulators located throughout this deck.
Polito will instruct the Soldier to pick up a large vial on one of the desks - an experimental chemical agent called Toxin A, designed to kill off the infestation aboard the Von Braun. The Soldier will need to find a way to get rid of them in order to head on up to Deck 4. Apparently The Many have begun to use the Hydroponics deck as a breeding ground, taking advantage of its climate control systems. Since the Soldier cannot take the elevator to Deck 4, he is forced to go to this deck, due to a biomass blockage in the shaft.
